  • What are the signs my roof has problems?

Age: The average lifespan of an asphalt roof in the midwest is 18-22 years. Any roof older than that is likely to need repair or replacement. Any roof between 1-10 years old should be fine unless there were installation problems from previous roofing companies.

Leaks: Leaks are a common warning sign, especially wherever caulk has been used like valleys, chimney flashings, vents, and along the eaves from ice damming.

Shingle Issues: Curling shingles, lifted shingles, nail pops, or granular loss are also causes for concern. If you see granules in your downspouts, that's a telltale sign you're shedding granules at a rapid pace. It's common to see them there on older roofs after heavy rain storms or storms in general.

  • My roof is leaking. What do I do?

Identify where the leak is originating and visually document it. This helps us pinpoint the cause of the leak.

The next step is to reach out to roofing companies for assistance immediately. You can call us at 414-455-7661 or schedule an estimate on our website.

In some cases, you might want to call your insurance company for them to send an insurance adjuster out to assess the damage. If necessary, tarp your roof or have a qualified contractor do it for you. Insurance companies generally cover this cost to prevent further damage.

  • How much does a new roof cost?

It depends on the size of your roof. The average midwest home is about $10-$15K. According to the Roofers Guild, a typical residential roofing repair costs approximately $985.

Several factors affect costs, like the ones below.

    -Size

    -Steepness level

    -Number of layers

    -Possible need for wood replacement

    -Number of chimneys

    -Number of dormers

    -Number of stories

    -Roofing material quality

    -Overall complexity of the project

Additionally, comparing roofing companies based on reviews and testimonials is vital to finding the best one for you.

  • Do new roofs have warranties?

YES! The average warranty for a quality shingle roof in 2022 is 30 years. Some manufacturers like Atlas offer a 50-year warranty as well for an additional cost. We also offer a craftsmanship warranty. There are other warranties available and they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer but 30 years is the status quo in 2022. Contact us today to work with one of the top roofing companies available.

  • What are the different types of asphalt shingles?

Asphalt Slate: Typically installed on higher-end homes and are more expensive than a standard shingle. People usually choose these for performance and aesthetics.

Asphalt Shake: These are a bit beefier, with a higher wind rating, and are usually High Impact-Resistant.

Asphalt Dimensional Shingles: These can be found on 95% of newly installed roofs across America. These usually have a 30 Year Warranty and a 130 MPH Wind Rating.

Asphalt 3 Tab: These were commonly used by roofing companies in the 1970s-1990s. We don't typically install these anymore unless it's for a repair or a small project. This is only available upon request.

We use Atlas Pinnacle Pristine, Shake, and Slate because they're all algae-resistant and have a lifetime guarantee against black streaks on your roof.

  • How long will it take to replace my roof?

For some roofing companies, it can take up to three to five days, but we're happy to offer a quicker job. It depends on the size of the roof, but it'll generally take between one to two days for us to replace your roof.

  • What should you ask your roofing contractor before hiring?

Some key things to ask include:

-Can they provide proof of license and insurance?

    -Where are they located?

-How long have they been in business?

-What do their customers say about them?

-How are their relationships with suppliers?

-Do they have an active line of credit?

-How many warranty claims have they had?

-Do they have a website with previous work examples?

-What is their rating on Google, BBB, Facebook, etc?

Reputable roofing companies will be happy to provide all of these details and it's in your best interest to confirm as much as you can before hiring.

  • How do you tell if roofers are doing a good job?

A key indicator of exceptional work is job site cleanliness. Roofing is a messy job and having a program in place to manage debris and nails is very important. If roofing companies aren't managing this simple task, other things are likely being overlooked.

The overall attitude of the employees is important, too. When looking at your roof you should see clean lines without any zig-zagging. Your edges should be even and your metal flashings should be free of creases and dents.

  • What are the most common roof problems you encounter?

The majority of our repair calls seem to be from chimney flashings leaking and shingles blowing off. Contact us today for qualified assistance from one of the top roofing companies you can rely on.

  • What are common qualities that roofers need?

Going with the cheapest roofing companies regardless of other factors typically doesn't provide the best results. You want someone with plenty of experience and a great track record of customer service.

Communication is key. You should always have someone on the job site that you can communicate with and direct access to someone in the office if a problem should arise.

Your contractor should be in the appropriate uniform and easily identifiable. Marked trucks are a plus. Assuming they've checked all these boxes, make sure they have an office and that they're a stable company. If there's a problem 10 years down the road, you want a company that'll still be there. Contact us today to put our twenty-five years of friendly and professional service to use.
